The Benton's Vans

Our Story

Benton's was born out of a side hustle while I balanced roles at Harvey's, Military Hardware, and as a youth leader at First Cumberland Presbyterian Church, all the while pursuing a full-time college degree in business management. My days at Military Hardware revealed a gap in the market: customers frequently sought help with plumbing, electrical, and HVAC issues in their homes and businesses. Recognizing an opportunity, I used my free time—nights, weekends, and days off—to equip a Nissan Xterra and dive into work.

My mission was straightforward: ensure clear communication with customers, always be punctual, and deliver quality repairs. This approach, which we fondly refer to as "show up and show out" (SUSO), quickly gained popularity. Benton's momentum surged as word spread that for reliable fixes, one should seek out the young Benton kid at Military Hardware. As the business grew, I gathered a team equally passionate about our SUSO philosophy. My childhood affection for navy blue found a new expression when, just as my Nissan Xterra's transmission failed, I was fortuitously provided with an old blue Air Force van—thus, my love for the color blue was rekindled.

Over the years, I have remained true to my core values, always remembering my father, Robert Benton's, advice: "Son, all you have is your good name." This wisdom has been a guiding principle for Benton's. Despite our growth and my inability to be present at every job, I lead Benton's based on five core values: customer service, quality, continuous improvement, accountability, and integrity. These principles ensure that Benton's legacy is not just about fixing problems but about building trust and delivering excellence.
